Marshall Ndhlovu’s Story
“I grew up in a low-income household and no one in my family had ever been to college before. My parents worked hard, but they didn’t have enough money to send me to university due to the prohibitive costs. It was always a dream of mine to go to college, but I had no idea of how I was going to pay for it.
“Quite simply, The Iowa Tuition Grant made it possible for me to attend Drake University. Thanks to this grant, I am graduating this coming May with Dual Degrees in Business Law and Data Analytics as well as minors in Insurance and Artificial intelligence. I have accepted a position with the Iowa Insurance Division as an examiner and plan to attend Law School next year. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to have had a college education and I am proud of my accomplishments. Thank you for making this grant available to students like me who are from low-income families, you have profoundly changed my life.”
“I know that there are many other students who are struggling to pay for college. I know this personally because I was one of them. I encourage them to apply for financial aid. There are many resources available to help them pay for college. The financial aid staff at Drake University have been with me since day one and they knew what I needed to succeed! I have to thank them as well because they cared about me regardless of my family economic status. With a little help, I think we can all achieve our dreams courtesy of a college education.
“In closing, I am very thankful to have received the Iowa Tuition Grant, and I am eager to use my education to make a positive impact on my community. Everyone deserves the opportunity to get a college education, regardless of their socio-economic background. I hope that my story will inspire other students who are struggling to pay for college.”
